Das Video Planet Claire entstand in Los Angeles während eines Stipendienaufenthalts des Berliner Senats und reflektiert die Thematik der allgegenwärtigen Überwachung.

Planet Claire was filmed in 2010 during a scholarship in Los Angeles. The installation depicts the city as a hybrid between surveillance society and dream factory.

Der Loop zeigt eine idyllische nächtliche Szenerie mit Palme und Vollmond, wobei der Mond als natürliche und einzige Lichtquelle der Aufnahme fungiert. Im Laufe der Zeit scheinen sich sowohl seine Geschwindigkeit, als auch die Richtung seiner Bahn um die Erde zu ändern. Das fahle Mondlicht, das den Nachthimmel zunächst nur dürftig erhellt, wandelt sich zu einem gleißend pulsierenden Strahl, der die Umgebung sukzessiv ausblendet. Begleitet wird die romatische Szenerie vom bedrohlichen Geräusch eines kreisenden Helikopters, die propellerartig wandernden Lichtstrahlen erinnern an das
Licht eines Suchscheinwerfers.

The video projection shows an idyllic nighttime scenery with palm tree and full moon.
The recordings only source of light is the moon. Its speed as well as the direction of its path around the world is manipulated. The pale moonlight that poorly illuminates the night sky is transformed over time into a glistening pulsating ray that successively fades out the surroundings.
The noise of a circling helicopter – its volume is based on the intensity of the beam- accompanies the image.
